Patricia Terry Holland grew up in St. George, Utah. She taught and served in the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society organizations and was a counselor in the Young Women General Presidency. She was active in community service and was the author or coauthor of four best-selling books. In her life she received many awards and distinctions, including LDS Business College (now Ensign College) bestowing upon her the Distinguished Alumnus Award. She also received Brigham Young University’s Exemplary Womanhood Award. Sister Holland is the mother of three children and has thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is the wife of Jeffrey R. Holland, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and former president of Brigham Young University. Sister Holland passed away in July 2023.

Mary Alice Holland McCann was born in Seattle, Washington, in 1969. She grew up in Utah and graduated from Brigham Young University in 1991 with a degree in English. She has also enjoyed community service and is the author of the book
In Mary’s Arms. She is married to Elder Ulysse G. McCann II and has five children and five grandchildren.
