Her name is Marlene, but she also answers to "Mom"! Marlene Ellingson is mother of thirteen. People always ask her if she really did give birth to thirteen children! Yes—nine boys and four girls—with one set of twins and two still at home. She earned a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from BYU in family living. Since 2008, she has taught parenting workshops; for the last twenty-seven years, she has taught elementary school art and music appreciation; and for thirty years, she has taught scripture-based preschool to her kids, friends, and many of her twenty-six grandchildren. She has also been a voice for religious freedom in her community. Marlene and her sweetheart Mark grew up in Tempe, Arizona, and are raising their family in Mesa. They enjoy camping, swimming, and running at the track—they run half-marathons, and she takes their pictures! The greatest principle they have learned through this adventure of raising a family with the Spirit is that truly “the answer is more love.”
